Book Tour: Touched to the Core by Elsa Winckler

He gave her his heart, but can he give her the truth?

Schoolteacher Dana Roux doesn’t need sexy hotel tycoon David Cavallo to add to her troubles. They have absolutely nothing in common—she’s a simple schoolteacher in a small coastal town, and he has more money than he knows what to do with. Besides, as a former journalist, he’d remember the news stories about her dad’s alleged involvement in a dirty, Ponzi-like scheme, and his subsequent suicide. The last thing she wants is for the dark shadow of that scandal—and tragedy—to fall upon her once again. Especially since she knows her dad was innocent.

For David, flirting with a beautiful woman comes as naturally as breathing. So when he winds up kissing his sister-in-law’s best friend, he realizes Dana isn’t just another pretty pair of lips. But things between them get complicated quickly when he discovers who her father was, and that it was David’s own news story that blew the case wide open and sent her father to jail—and to his death. David’s not sure what to believe, but he knows he can’t let Dana blame him forever. Especially since she insists her father was an innocent man. But when Dana’s life is threatened, he realizes that he might not have uncovered the whole story. And that now, older and wiser, he just might be the only one who can uncover the truth.

I have been reading love stories for as long as I can remember and when I ‘met’ the classic authors like Jane Austen, Elizabeth Gaskell, Henry James, The Brontë sisters, etc. during my Honours studies, I was hooked for life.
I married my college boyfriend and soul mate and after 40 years, 3 interesting and wonderful children and 3 beautiful grandsons, he still makes me weak in the knees. We are fortunate to live in the picturesque little seaside village of Betty's Bay, South Africa with the ocean a block away and a beautiful mountain right behind us. And although life so far has not always been an easy ride, it has always been an exiting and interesting one!
I like the heroines in my stories to be beautiful, feisty, independent and headstrong.  And the heroes must be strong but possess a generous amount of sensitivity. They are of course, also gorgeous!  My stories typically incorporate the family background of the characters to better understand where they come from and who they are when we meet them in the story.

Excerpt
Don laughed and slapped him on the back. “You’ve got it bad, man,” he said and poured a glass of wine for himself.
David shrugged. “I don’t know what you’re talking about.”
Don pointed toward the stairs. “You’ve been staring at those stairs ever since you arrived.” He cocked his head. “You got a thing for our Dana?”
David frowned. “No one’s got a thing for anyone. I’m helping her find out what really happened with the Hastings case. As you very well know, I feel I owe it to her. I’m taking her for a meal, that’s all there is to—”
A movement on the stairs caught his eye, and there was Dana. Something hit him in the gut – hard. A gasp escaped before he could prevent it. She looked gorgeous and sexy as hell. Pale blue lace gently hugged her generous breasts, fitted perfectly over the rest of her body and ended high above her knee, leaving those gorgeous legs bare.
His fingers tingled, and before he knew it, he was standing at the bottom of the stairs, holding out his hand to her. She descended, one step at a time, and he noticed the shoes. He was a dead man. The high heels made her legs look even longer, even sexier.
Don barked out a laugh, but David ignored it. Caitlin called out a greeting, and he nodded but his eyes never left Dana.
A small smile hovered on her lips when she reached the bottom of the stairs.
“You look amazing.” He bent down. He simply had to kiss her.
He swallowed the small gasp on her lips and pulled her closer.
“Well, are you two sure you want to go out?” Don asked behind him. “We have a few empty rooms upstairs.”
David lifted his head and touched Dana’s lips. “Yes, we’re going out.” He pulled Dana’s hand through his arm.

Blitz: Out of the Past by Shauna E Black

When Shauna E. Black was a young teen, her English teacher made the mistake of offering extra credit for original short stories, and was suddenly swamped with Shauna’s writing. Dutifully reading each story (at least, she wrote encouraging things in the margins), this teacher inspired Shauna to follow her dreams, leaving her with a warm spot in her heart for all English teachers.
Today, Shauna still keeps a box in the attic full of early manuscripts, most written in pencil on lined paper. She lives in the high desert of the southwest with her husband and four children. On springtime hiking adventures to the many Ancestral Puebloan ruins near her home, she finds inspiration for her writing. She also likes to experiment in the kitchen, perform in local singing groups, and travel to exotic locations to collect wind chimes. Visit http://shaunablack.com for more information.

 Snippet Time!!

“Somebody escort that boy to safety,” Ghalad said.
“No!” I yelled as a soldier moved toward the boy.
Suddenly, the boy’s expression shifted. His skin took on a waxy appearance, like a candle held too long near the fire. He grew, shooting up until his head nearly touched the ceiling. He was now easily twice as tall as Talorc. His body became blackened wood. Muscles exploded under sharp thorns that jutted out along his limbs and around his head. … where its mouth should have been was a hollow cavity that held a glowing red coal.
Before anyone could react, the golem grabbed the nearest soldier in massive hands of gnarled wood and lifted him up. The man screamed and hacked at the golem’s hand as he neared its face. The scream petered out. The man struggled and gasped for breath. When he came close to the golem’s face, a blast of hot air blew from the coal in the golem’s mouth and enveloped the soldier. His body exploded into ashes.

Blitz: Light the Way by Joe Kipling

With a surname like Kipling, Joes' future as a writer might have been predetermined at
birth. . . . . well at least it assured her a good place on the bookshelves.

An avid traveller she spent many years backpacking around the world and has by pure luck managed to avoid catastrophe, although she has been known to miss a flight or two.

She now lives in West Yorkshire and if she's not at home writing she’ll be found hiking in the hills around her house with her dog Rosie.
Joes debut novel Blinded by the Light was published by Cillian Press in 2013. Light the Way is her follow up novel and the 2nd book in the UnionTrilogy.

Having escaped the boundary and the tyranny of the Neighbourhood and now under the protection of the Union, MaryAnn Hunter is slowly re-building her life as a fugitive on the Outside.
When a friend asks for help MaryAnn finds herself on a dangerous rescue mission that takes her on a terrifying journey and back into the desperate clutches of the Director and the Light.
MaryAnn faces a fight for survival against insurmountable odds - but is it a fight she is willing to win at any cost?
Light the Way is the second book in The Union Trilogy

Let's get to know the main characters!
MaryAnn Hunter is 15 years old and her life in the Neighbourhood as an Alpha was dominated by fashion, celebrity and a desperate need to fit in. Having given up this position of privilege to join her brother Daryl and Uncle Patrick on the Outside she struggles to come to terms with the realities of life in the Union caves.  MaryAnn has a real empathy for others and a strong understanding of right and wrong.

Daryl Hunter is MaryAnn’s older brother. He ran away from home when he was 15 to join the Union and before the events of Blinded by the Light they hadn’t been in contact for a number of years. With his messy dark hair and slender frame he makes an unlikely resistance fighter. However along with his best friend Peter and sidekick Flash Gordon they make a formidable team.

Patrick Hunter is MaryAnn and Daryl’s uncle. He’s the leader of the Union, a rebel group fighting for the people left on the Outside after a Flu virus decimated the UK. He cares about his extended family, but the thing closest to his heart is the fight for equality and he will go to any lengths to bring down the Neighbourhood.

Peter Mallory is a solider in the Union. He’s Daryl’s best friend and they share a passion for Sci-fi and superhoeros. He even named his dog and faithful sidekick after Flash Gordon. Peter’s first impression of MaryAnn was not very favorable and this does cause some friction. Peter can be stubborn and a little arrogant but remember not to call him ‘Petey.’

The Director is the leader of the Light and ruler of the Manchester Neighbourhood. He’s tall, attractive and the embodiment of everything that the Light, values. He’s a charismatic and popular leader, but beneath the shiny veneer there’s a cold and calculating heart.  He cherishes his position and will go to any lengths to keep it.

Charlotte Swift is a new POV character introduced in Light the Way. She’s 13 and lives a simple but comfortable life on her family farm.
